Despite being one of Michael Jordan’s championship-winning shoes and having been created by Tinker Hatfield, the Air Jordan 7 has never quite attained the same level of popularity as the Air Jordan 1, 3, 4, or 11. Several AJ7 releases have been collecting dust on the shelves, so it goes without saying that the model’s 30th Anniversary celebration has been a little underwhelming.
The new Air Jordan 7 Retro SE “Black/Olive,” a striking hue that pays homage to the classic “Bordeaux” colorway while incorporating some modern accents, aims to buck that trend. The same African-inspired pattern that can be found on the Air Jordan 7 “Afrobeats” and even the Air Jordan 7 Bin 23 from way back in 2010 can be spotted on the heel and forefoot. The combination of Cherrywood, Neutral Olive, Chutney, and Taxi is reminiscent of an unpublished sample of the AJ7; perhaps that sentiment of nostalgia will increase excitement for this impending release.
